The story behind the brand

No safe
harbor.
No limits.

Built by anglers, for anglers. This is how Offshore Outcasts was born from the water up.

Chapter 01 — The beginning

How it started

Offshore Outcasts was started by Zak Higgins alongside his business partner Richie Whitamore during the early stages of building a brand around fishing, commercial maritime culture, and eventually biodegradable fishing products.

The idea grew from a shared connection to offshore life, fishing communities, and the rugged mentality of people who work and live on the water. What started as designing apparel and branding inspired by commercial fishermen evolved into building a company focused on both culture and innovation in the fishing industry.

Built for the grit, the independence, and the culture of life on the water.

Offshore Outcasts exists to represent hardworking fishermen, deckhands, outdoorsmen, and people who feel more at home on the water than anywhere else — while creating products that respect the environment that lifestyle depends on.

Why we built this

The brand was created out of a passion for fishing, offshore life, and the people who live outside the "normal" path. Offshore Outcasts was built to represent the people who feel more at home on the water than anywhere else.

At the same time, the company began exploring biodegradable fishing lures to reduce plastic waste in waterways — while still making products anglers actually want to use. We don't believe you have to choose between performance and responsibility.

We're building for the next generation of anglers — one that fishes hard, respects the water, and doesn't apologize for either.

01
Authenticity
We don't make gear for posers. Every piece is built for people who actually live this life — before dawn, miles offshore, when it counts.
02
Responsibility
The water gives us everything. Biodegradable lures and sustainable practices aren't optional — they're the only way we know how to fish.
03
Grit
No safe harbors. We build for the people who go out when others stay in, who stay out when others go home, and who come back with the stories.
